The Danish lineup claimed their second CCT title in under a month after winning CCT South Europe Series 1 in late October.
Copenhagen Flames won CCT Central Europe Series 3 after getting the better of ex-Finest in the grand final. The Danes prevailed with a 2-1 scoreline on their way to the $22,000 grand prize and gained 150 points in the CCT regional rankings leaderboard.
The Danish roster started their run through the 24-team event in the playoffs as they received a direct invite straight to the knockout stage. The team led by Thomas "birdfromsky" Due-Frederiksen had to work for their wins as they moved through the bracket, securing hard-fought victories over 9INE, HAVU, and K23 to set up the grand final match-up against ex-Finest, which once again went the distance.
ex-Finest's grand-final loss was a heartbreaking affair after the orgless squad made light work of their foes in the bracket. The international squad didn't lose a single map on their way to the title-deciding match only to fall at the final hurdle.
The final started with a dominant display by Copenhagen Flames on Vertigo. The Danish squad took a 10-5 lead on the offense before dropping just one round on the CT side, and in-game leader birdfromsky proved to be an unlikely source of firepower by putting up a 1.58 rating on the map.
Dust 2 was a much closer affair. ex-Finest put together an impressive T side to take a three-round lead into the interval, although the two foes couldn't be separated in regulation after a three-round streak got Copenhagen Flames on equal footing at in the 30th. ex-Finest got their momentum back in overtime and lost just one round to close out the map 19-16.
Inferno was the series' decider and the two teams delivered another close map. This time around it was Rasmus "raalz" Steensborg who powered his team on the defense — the 27-year-old put up 18 kills in the first half to give Copenhagen Flames a one-round lead into the interval. A successful pistol round and the following conversion got the Danes into a 12-7 lead, which proved big enough for the Danes to claim the title. ex-Finest mounted a decent comeback attempt but ultimately fell short in the 29th round with a 13-16 scoreline.
